Zoo Hannover bids a final farewell to its former animal nurse as they depart for good.

In a heartwarming display of community support, Saskia Dreyer, a leading veterinarian at Hannover Zoo, recently visited the zoo one last time. Accompanied by Sister Barbara, Holger, Steffi, and Daniel, Saskia's journey was made possible by the ASB Wish Vehicle, a charitable transport service in Lower Saxony that grants special wishes for people with serious illnesses.

As Saskia covered each meter, her smile grew wider. The zoo, which has grown over time to be a large, immersive park with themed areas and well-maintained animal habitats, seemed to take on a new charm for her. She was particularly amazed at how much the zoo had changed over the years.

During her visit, Saskia spent a significant amount of time observing the gorillas and lions. Her connection to the zoo goes back to the 1970s when she trained as a zookeeper at Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover. Over the decades, she has evolved from a trainee to a leading veterinarian, conducting health checks on young animals.

Users on Facebook have been moved by Saskia's last wish and the effort made by the ASB Wish Vehicle. One user wrote, "The work of the ASB Wish Vehicle is heartwarming. Seeing Saskia's smile today was a testament to their good work." Another expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you to the ASB Wish Vehicle for making this special day possible. It was truly a special visit."

The ASB Wish Vehicle team was described as special and full of good hearts by another user. They also noted that Saskia was given a small, soft plush lion as a keepsake from her visit.

As the visit came to an end, Saskia's strength gave out. The group stopped frequently to allow her to take in the scents, sounds, and sights of the zoo one last time.

For those who wish to support the ASB Wish Vehicle, donations can be made through their website. Users on Facebook can also submit an online wish request for someone they know. The ASB Wish Vehicle continues to make a difference in the lives of many, fulfilling special wishes and bringing joy to those in need.

Inspired by Saskia's heartwarming visit, one user suggested, "Perhaps it's time to expand the ASB Wish Vehicle's horizons to include home-and-garden makeovers, enriching the lifestyle of those who are less mobile or ill." Another user echoed this thought, "A home-and-garden division would be a wonderful addition to the ASB Wish Vehicle, creating serene environments for individuals who need it most."
