Witten sees the shuttering of Trantenrother Hof, a local establishment operating for over half a century, as it ceases operations.

Witten city bids farewell to Trantenrother Hof, a store that has been in operation for over half a century, as it permanently shuts down.

The Trantenrother Hof farm shop in Witten-Heven, a staple in the community for over five decades, is set to close permanently on August 23rd. However, the farm will continue to operate.

In a Facebook announcement, operators Nina Poll (54) and Bert Schulze-Poll shared the news, citing increased availability of organic products in nearby supermarkets as the reason for the closure.

"We've been doing well, but the shop was no longer up-to-date," Nina Poll explained. She mentioned Denns organic store in Langendreer and the upcoming Rewe store near Crengeldanz as examples of supermarkets with organic products.

In response to numerous customer requests, there will be one sales day per week in the future. The weekly sales day will take place in the garage where it all began, and will be limited to bread, vegetables, eggs, honey, and cheese.

The Saturday sale on the Trantenrother Hof would take place during the usual opening hours of the previous farm shop, from 9-13 am. Fresh eggs from free-range chickens, fresh bread from the Bochum Hutzel bakery, and honey from the Trantenrother Hof will still be available.

Dairy products like butter and milk will no longer be sold at the Trantenrother Hof farm shop. Dry products like flour, oats, or pasta will also be unavailable.

However, customers can continue to buy these products every Friday at the parking lot of the Rewe supermarket in Trantenroth, and every Wednesday at the same location for vegetables, honey, and cheese.

The Trantenrother Hof operators emphasize that the farm will continue to operate. The farm, located near the Bochum road, will still sell at the Bochum market, for example, on Saturdays behind the main station.

This change marks the end of an era for the Trantenrother Hof farm shop, but the community can still support the farm by visiting the market or the new weekly sales day.

Despite the closure of the Trantenrother Hof farm shop, customers can still support the farm by visiting the market or the new weekly sales day in the garage where it all began, selling bread, vegetables, eggs, honey, and cheese on Saturdays from 9-13 am. Alternatively, dairy products like butter and milk, as well as dry products like flour, oats, or pasta, can be purchased every Friday at the parking lot of the Rewe supermarket in Trantenroth, and every Wednesday for vegetables, honey, and cheese.
