Chelsea Flower Show Highlights 2021: Gold-winning Show and Small Show Gardens

The Chelsea Flower Show returned in 2021 with a plethora of stunning display gardens, captivating visitors and experts alike. Among the many impressive entrants, several show and small show gardens stood out, earning the prestigious Gold award. Here's a look at some of the most celebrated designs of the event.

Gold - Cha No Niwa – Japanese Tea Garden

Kazuyuki Ishihara's innovative design was crowned as the RHS Garden of the Year in the Best in Show awards. For several years, Ishihara has been creating enchanting gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show, but Cha No Niwa marks his first full-scale show garden. Tiffany Daneff, our gardens editor, was quick to call it 'perfect'.

Gold - The Glasshouse Garden

Jo Thompson's creation was undeniably the most beautiful planting at this year's show, with its array of roses providing a remarkable mix of visual charm and captivating scent.

Gold - The Avanade Intelligent Garden

Impressively, this 'urban forest' by Tom Massey and Je Ahn was not only awarded Gold but also Best Construction (Show garden) in the Best in Show awards. With a focus on urban air quality and environmental harmony, it aims to serve as a test environment for urban tree planting in the future.

Gold - The King's Trust Garden: Seeding Success

Resplendent with colorful stained glass installations and predominantly grasses and perennials, this garden by Joe Perkins left a lasting impression with its bold contrasts.

Silver Gilt - Hospice UK: Garden of Compassion

As much for its future life at a hospice as for the Chelsea Flower Show, this garden by Tom Hoblyn was not just beautiful. Paths large enough for a hospital bed to be pushed along were an innovative and thoughtful touch.

Despite not providing specific details about the winners in the Container Gardens and Balcony Gardens categories, the 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show showcased a wide array of exceptional garden designs for visitors to marvel at.

The garden design 'The Glasshouse Garden' by Jo Thompson won Gold at the Chelsea Flower Show 2021, known for its captivating planting arrangement of roses. The 'King's Trust Garden: Seeding Success' by Joe Perkins, adorned with colorful stained glass installations and grasses, also received Gold and showcased bold contrasts in its design.
