Updates for the 2026 Shooting Celebration

Let's Barney-up This Convo:

Yo, Hennen and Scharf, no drama this time round?

Hennen: Nah man, we're in a transition year, 'bout that coronation evening on the Tuesday shootin' fest bash - ain't happenin' this year. Instead, we're throwin' a festive wrap party in the tent. Our new king, Jochen Nitschke, gets crowned four weeks before the shootin' fest in '26.

So when's the successor get chosen?

Hennen: Next year and every year after, on the Tuesday of the shootin' fest, fam.

Scharf: That means Jochen N. gets to roll in the king's parade twice, ain't no thang.

Why the change, though? What's the deal behind these shootin' fest updates?

Hennen: Been thinkin' 'bout how to bring our shootin' fest into the future, you feel me? Folks suggested a four-day fest, but naaah, the young shooters weren't havin' it. They wanted Tuesday, and we wouldn't cast them aside.

Scharf: But Teddy Tuesday ain't been attractin' much attention in the tent lately - not the best for our shootin' king’s vibe.

Got any worries about the next gen holdin' it down?

Hennen: Nah, the Edelknaben corps is thrivin', you ask me. Shoutout to the annual family fest in St. Joseph. Plus, them target shooters managed to snag some fresh new blood after some older peeps parted ways.

Scharf: Same goes for the Hubertus corps and the hunters and grenadiers - some serious generation shift happenin' there. Top-notch youth work, hands down.

Now, here's some kid-related hype: The Further Brotherhood's hostin' the first children's shootin' fest.

Scharf: Huge turnout! Around 400 little ones from 15 kinders and two schools already registered. We can't wait to see the colorful chaos on June 7th.

Hennen: It's even cooler that the shootin' joy teamed up with Kita Christ König to build a large torch. The hunter corps did the same with students from Marie-Curie-Gymnasium - they'll join the torchlight procession on the shootin' fest Saturday.

Hope we got some smooth tunes…

Hennen: No sweat, the transfers are fully-staffed with music bands. The Ratsblowers join the squad this year, so we're maintaining the same number of players as last year.

A completely different topic poppin' up: They talkin' 'bout buildin' a fire station near the torch-buildin' hall at Neusser Weyhe. Anything new there?

Hennen: We expect a decision by the end of the year. They got three options: build the fire station on the current lot and keep the torch-buildin' hall, shift the latter, or build it on a city-offered plot.

Make no mistake, the brotherhood needs to have a voice in those decisions. It ain't just about the shooters; it's about the whole city society. The brotherhood offers a social home, helps the fam, sticks together. This isn't just for the Further Brotherhoods, but for every district. We keep these traditions rollin' strong, like the St. Martin's procession with the cloak distribution and the St. Martin's fire in our hood.

Here's hopin' you lot keep puttin' in that work to better our community. We'll be hyped to join y'all for the Volks- and Heimatfest alongside the marksmen.

Hope y'all enjoyed chattin'. Hennen and Scharf, peace out.

I need it for planning our home-and-garden lifestyle next year, considering the changes in the lifestyle of our community due to the shootin' fest updates. The children's shootin' fest is a great addition to our home, providing an engaging activity for the younger generation and promoting a healthier lifestyle at home.
