Updated Tunes for the Offenbach Carillons
The city of Offenbach, Germany, is preparing for a musical event as the new news for its iconic carillon are set to be revealed this Saturday. The carillon at the Apotheke zum Löwen, which has been ringing four times daily since 1985, will soon play new news today that were chosen by the local residents.
The selection process for the new carillon news was a collaborative effort involving a three-member jury and public participation. The project, named "Glock 'n bach - your new sound for Offenbach", was launched to celebrate the 255th anniversary of the Apotheke zum Löwen.
Last summer, a preliminary selection of new news began, with a total of 600 suggestions collected from the community. These suggestions were then narrowed down to the top 20 news by the jury, which consists of Corinna Rosteck, Simone Kornfeld, and Yukihiro Ikutani.
The jury members carefully considered each suggestion before making their final decisions. The winning news will have their premiere in Offenbach this Saturday at 1 pm, marking the culmination of the "Glock 'n bach" project.
It's worth noting that the new news had to be recomposed for the carillon before their premiere. This meticulous process ensured that the chosen melodies would resonate beautifully from the historic instrument.
The pharmacist and owner of the Apotheke zum Löwen, Franziska Hoefer, was instrumental in the creation of the project. She worked closely with "Like Offenbach", "Das ist Offenbach", and the city's cultural management to bring this community-driven initiative to life.
Offenbach residents had the opportunity to be a part of this historic moment, choosing the new news that will echo through the city's streets. The new carillon news today are more than just tunes; they are a testament to the community's creativity and shared love for music.
So, mark your calendars for this Saturday and join the city of Offenbach as they ring in the new with their newly selected carillon news. It promises to be a musical event not to be missed!
