Abandoned Apartment in Salzgitter Baffles Local Community

An apartment in Salzgitter was left in a state of disarray when its tenants mysteriously vanished without notice or explanation. The property, now unrecognizable due to trash bags, furniture, and dirt, was left in a condition that makes it difficult to enter.

Professionals from "Hano Clearance" were called in to address the situation. The landlord was at a loss on how to proceed, as the tenants had left behind personal items, clothing, and furniture. Enver Tahiri, who runs the business with his wife Dzejna, expressed that the tenants seemed to have disappeared overnight.

Hano Clearance does not take on every job. The small team, usually consisting of two or three members, maintains a swift, clean, and respectful approach to their work. They refuse tasks that are too disgusting or if the client does not understand their pricing structure. Enver expressed that he would not subject his employees to such conditions.

Having seen a fair share of extreme cases, Enver recalled an apartment where everything was covered in feces, from the bathroom to the living room. Used toilet paper was scattered everywhere, and the smell was unbearable. In another incident, a mattress, wrapped in foil and soaked, was infested with insects. It was later discovered that someone had passed away in the apartment, which the landlord had kept secret.

The apartment in Salzgitter required gloves, safety shoes, and dust masks for cleaning. Though the job was dirty, it was not disgusting. The cleanup was completed within a day. Hano Clearance is known for their speed and efficiency, as they aim to clear properties quickly and leave no trace behind.

Underneath the pictures of the Salzgitter apartment on Hano Clearance's Facebook page, comments pile up. Many people are left wondering, "How can someone live like that?" Enver initially shared similar sentiments, but his experiences have taught him that many hoarders are dealing with tragic circumstances. He often encounters individuals who are ill, have no family nearby, and lack the strength to maintain a clean home.

Founded in 2019, Hano Clearance is a family business run by Dzejna Tahiri. In addition to household clearances, they rent out vans, handle vehicle registrations, and mediate real estate. They intervene when others are unsure of how to handle difficult situations. The job is not easy, but Enver credits perseverance and enjoyment for his success in the industry.

Research suggests that hoarding behaviors can stem from a complex interplay between psychological, neurobiological, and environmental factors. Traumatic experiences, early behavioral patterns, genetic predisposition, co-occurring mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, and societal influences can contribute to hoarding habits. The condition is distinct from other mental health disorders, though it may share some neurobiological features. Hoarding disorder affects about 2-6% of the population.[1]

The team at Hano Clearance, known for their efficient and respectful approach, was tasked with restoring the abandoned apartment in Salzgitter, a case that showcased a disorganized home-and-garden lifestyle. While the apartment was far from livable, it didn't fall into the category of the extremely disgusting jobs that the firm often declines. Enver Tahiri, the business owner, has encountered numerous hoarders dealing with challenging circumstances, understanding that the lifestyle of accumulating items is often linked to complex psychological factors and not just poor lifestyle choices.
