Two Whole Foods Stores Open Within a 48-Hour Timeframe

In the heart of downtown St. Charles, Illinois, and the vibrant midtown neighborhood of Miami, Florida, Whole Foods Market has recently opened its doors, offering a wide selection of organic, conventional, and Sourced for Good produce, along with a variety of locally sourced products.

The St. Charles store, located at 300 S. 2 St., spans 36,234 square feet and features specialty food products, fresh meat and poultry from full-service counters, an expansive prepared foods department, a specialty bakery, and a curated grocery section. The first 300 customers in line on the grand opening day received a limited-edition tote bag and Secret Saver coupon.

Whole Foods Market, which is part of Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores based in Austin, Texas, is actively expanding its presence, but recent information from 2025 shows that the focus has been on new store developments in places like Frisco, Texas, and Sarasota, Florida, rather than St. Charles or Miami.

In Frisco, a Whole Foods Market is under construction at The Mix retail center, with groundbreaking in January 2025, marking the first Whole Foods for that city. In Sarasota, Florida, plans for a store anchoring a mixed-use redevelopment project at the former Sarasota Square Mall are underway, with delivery expected in 2026.

Amazon is unifying teams across its grocery banners, including Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, and Amazon.com, as part of its broader logistics expansions around perishables. The Miami store carries 500 items from more than 130 Florida suppliers, while the St. Charles store stocks more than 650 locally sourced products from the Midwest.

Whole Foods is also giving back to the communities it serves. In Miami, the store is donating food to local nonprofits as part of its introduction, and it is giving away free gelato pops during the grand opening. In St. Charles, the store is supporting local service groups. Additionally, Whole Foods is donating an all-electric refrigerated van and surplus products to a nonprofit food relief organization.

Store team leader Blake Guarnieri expressed his excitement about serving the Miami community, saying, "From Cuban-inspired beverages at the coffee bar to a large assortment of seafood sourced fresh from Florida fisheries, we are excited to serve the Miami community with local flavor and the highest quality ingredients."

As Whole Foods continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to providing the freshest, highest-quality products and supporting local communities. Amazon, which ranks No. 2 on Progressive Grocer's 2025 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America, is increasingly folding Whole Foods into its "one grocery" business.
