The Christmas Garden Leipzig is part of a popular series of festive light events across Germany and other European countries. This event series emphasizes large-scale illumination and family-friendly Christmas experiences. The Herfurth'schen Landscape Park in Markkleeberg will undergo a transformation, becoming the Christmas Garden Leipzig from November 21 to January 7, 2024.
Christian Diekmann, managing director of Christmas Garden Germany GmbH, oversees the event in Leipzig and other locations. The Christmas Garden Leipzig will feature light and sound worlds for visitor enjoyment, offering a tranquil escape from the pre-Christmas bustle.
The event is not limited to Leipzig and Dresden in Germany, but also takes place in various cities across Europe. Some of the other participating cities include Berlin, Stuttgart, Koblenz, Mainau, and several zoos in different cities.
In Leipzig, visitors can expect to see a colorful ballet of lights, a moonlit meadow, and a "Flowery Water Tale" told on a large mist wall. The history and layout of the Herfurth'schen Landscape Park will be emphasized at the Christmas Garden Leipzig.
Additional attractions include an image projected onto the former owner's villa, known as the "White House," and "Sound Lights," which encourage visitors to create their own sounds by changing colors and music when they step on illuminated plates.
The Christmas Garden Leipzig will be the second venue in Saxony for Christmas Garden Germany GmbH, following Schloss Pillnitz in Dresden. Christian Diekmann hopes for similar visitor numbers as in Dresden, which was around 120,000 in 2022, for the Christmas Garden Leipzig.
Other German venues for the Christmas Garden event include the Botanical Garden Berlin, the Stuttgart Wilhelma, the Fortress Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, the Island of Mainau, and areas of the zoos in Augsburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, and Karlsruhe. The illuminated circular path spans approximately two kilometers, providing ample opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
So, mark your calendars and get ready to embark on a magical journey at the Christmas Garden Leipzig this holiday season!
