The European Commission has started a fresh undertaking to encourage internet adoption throughout the European Union.
The Inclusive Job Fair, held last weekend at the Ergolding Citizens' Hall, aimed to promote inclusive employment in the region and break down barriers in the job market. Organised by Carolin Voelkner (City of Landshut) and Linda Pilz (Landkreis Landshut), the event attracted around 25 companies, authorities, organisations, and educational providers.
In his speech, Holger Kiesel, disability commissioner of the Bavarian state government, urged exhibiting companies to focus on the person behind the resume, including their skills, qualifications, and motivation, rather than their disability. This call for inclusivity was echoed by Karl-Heinz Arians, ministerial director and head of the department for inclusion of people with disabilities at the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Work, and Social Affairs, who also addressed the visitors.
The fair provided a platform for personal encounters between employers and visitors, with many employers engaging in direct conversations with visitors during the fair. Over 300 visitors attended the fair, including many people with disabilities or chronic illnesses. This offered a unique opportunity for employers to directly address the needs and concerns of this group, providing specific offers and opportunities for job seekers.
The Round Table on Inclusion in the Workplace supported the organisation of the fair, demonstrating a firm commitment to breaking down barriers in the job market. The event was also patronised by Landrat Peter Dreier and Mayor Alexander Putz, who emphasised the success of inclusion during their greeting at the fair.
The fair was not just about job seeking; it also offered a platform for educational providers to engage with potential students. This aspect of the event aimed to encourage lifelong learning and personal development, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
The Citizens' Hall was well-attended shortly after the fair began, indicating a strong interest and support for the cause of inclusive employment. The Inclusive Job Fair in Landshut is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable job market, and it is hoped that such events will continue to inspire and empower individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses to pursue their career goals.
