The building known as Russenrad underwent a substantial makeover in the year 2022.

In the heart of Thuringia, a charming miniature Ferris wheel stands tall, reminiscent of a bygone era. This nostalgic attraction, built in 1925 by carousel manufacturer Franz Gundelwein, is a testament to the region's rich history.

The wheel, which stands at 14 meters tall, has been a cultural icon for decades. Its unique features include a hand-cranked operation mechanism, intricate decorative elements, and a vintage design that transports visitors back in time.

In 2023, the miniature Ferris wheel underwent a significant renovation by the volunteer group "Freunde der historischen Fahrgeschäfte" ("Friends of Historic Fairground Rides"). The group aimed to preserve the original craftsmanship and working condition of the wheel while ensuring it was safe for modern visitors.

One of the wheel's most notable features is its nostalgic concert organ, crafted by the firm Bruder from Waldkirch in the Breisgau. The organ is played via music rolls, adding an extra layer of charm to each ride.

The Ferris wheel was purchased by the Schwabing shoemaker Josef Esterl, who has since passed it down through generations. Today, it continues to be a beloved attraction in Thuringia, offering a glimpse into the region's past while providing a fun and unique experience for all.

The renovated miniature Ferris wheel, being a quintessential part of the region's history, still stands as a landmark in Thuringia, maintaining its vintage charm. Despite being owned by the descendants of the original purchaser, Josef Esterl, the wheel continues to captivate modern visitors with its classic home-and-garden style and the delightful sounds of the nostalgic concert organ.
