The 50th annual Osborne Heritage Days event will mark its end.

Prepare for a step back in time as the 50th Annual Osborne Heritage Days returns to Osborne Park in Clayton County. This two-day event, taking place on October 11th and 12th, offers a unique opportunity to experience the crafts, skills, and lifestyles of early pioneers.

The event, organised by Clayton County Conservation, promises a variety of demonstrations, including spinning, basketry, soap making, printing press, woodcrafts, and candle making. Visitors can immerse themselves in the pioneer-era, learning about these traditional skills first-hand.

Foodies will be delighted by the array of pioneer-era foods available, such as homemade root beer, kettle corn, fresh baked goods, jerky, buffalo stew, and a farmer's market with pumpkins, apples, honey, preserves, maple syrup, sorghum, and horseradish.

For those seeking a bit of friendly competition, the Great Pumpkin Contest, the best decorated pumpkin contest, and the Championship Buffalo Chip Throw are contests featured on October 11th. The following day, October 12th, offers a pioneer church service, music from The Andregg Family Band, pumpkin contests, an auction, and the 25th Annual Iowa Championship Buffalo Chip Throwing Contest.

Entertainment is not in short supply, with Gary Froiland's One-Man-Band and storyteller Pat Coffie performing on Saturday, October 11th. The kiddie train will also be operational during the event, providing fun for the whole family.

Please note that this will be the final Osborne Heritage Days event due to a lack of volunteers and demonstrators. After the event wraps up, Clayton County Conservation will begin planning a new fall market-type of festival that will take the place of Heritage Days in the coming years.

For more information about these contests, demonstrations, and events, interested participants can find details on the Clayton County Conservation website or by contacting them at 563-245-1516. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the spirit of the pioneers at the 50th Annual Osborne Heritage Days!
