TfL's Battersea Bridge Safety Project Aims to Reduce Road Danger by Autumn 2023
Transport for London (TfL) has announced plans to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists around Battersea Bridge. The project, set to conclude in fall 2023, aims to reduce road danger at this key junction.
TfL will commence work on 1 November, with improvements including upgraded pavements, traffic signals, and road layouts. The project, coordinated by TfL, will start on the south side of the river and progress north towards the bridge.
Penny Rees, TfL's head of healthy streets investment, emphasised the significance of these changes in reducing danger at the junction. The project aligns with the mayor's Vision Zero initiative, aiming to eliminate deaths and serious injuries from the transport network by 2041. However, motorists and bus users should expect delays and plan alternative routes during construction.
TfL's Battersea Bridge safety project is set to complete in fall 2023. The improvements aim to reduce collisions in high-risk areas and protect bus journey times. Although temporary disruptions are expected, the long-term benefits for pedestrians and cyclists are anticipated to be substantial.
