Swift Strategies to Simulate a Spotless Home Environment

Spontaneous visitors on their way and your house looking like a bomb went off? No problem, Here's a quick guide on how to make your house seem like you've been tidying all day:

  1. Take a Tour: Before diving in, walk around the house to identify the spaces that need your attention the most. Your priority should be focused on the areas that your guests will visit.
  2. Declutter: Grab a basket and a garbage bag. Pick up any items that are cluttering the countertops, tables, and floors. Don't worry about putting them back in their proper places just yet. The goal is to pick everything up fast. Be sure to only concentrate on the rooms that will be seen.
  3. Close Doors: Once you are done collecting all the clutter, stash the basket in a bedroom or office to deal with later. Close the bedroom doors and any remaining bedroom doors to keep them hidden from view. Remember, it's unlikely your guests will enter those rooms anyway.
  4. Start at the Front Door: Tackle the entryway first, as it's the first space your guests will see. Straighten any shoes or coats, shake the rugs, and make sure the entry table is dusted and wiped clean.
  5. Clean the Bathroom: Spray down mirrors, counters, and toilet with a multi-purpose cleaner. Use this time to replace any empty toilet rolls and pick up any towels off the floor. Close the shower curtain and quickly give the toilet a quick swish. Then wipe the sink, counters, and toilet.
  6. Focus on the Kitchen: Grab a multi-surface cleaner and start cleaning: wipe down the counters, table, and stove, clear your sink, sweep or vacuum the floor.
  7. Living Room/Family Room: Fold blankets, fluff pillows, and quickly dust any surfaces that will be seen, such as end tables or coffee tables.
  8. Add a Fresh Scent: If it's warm outside, open some windows to let in some fresh air. If not, light a candle or simmer citrus peels and cinnamon on the stove to make your home smell amazing.
