Summer Fun Awaits at Foxburrow's Recreational Retreat
Embark on an exciting outdoor learning experience at the upcoming Forest School session at Foxburrow! This event, following the ethos of child-led learning, promises a day filled with fun and educational activities.
Located entirely outside, participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, with hats, scarves, suncream, waterproofs, and long trousers recommended for cooler woodland conditions. Closed-toe shoes or trainers are also essential to protect against stinging nettles and midges that may be present in the woods.
Activities during the session include a variety of engaging and hands-on experiences such as hammock building, whittling, invertebrate hunting, woodland crafts, swings, bridge building, tool use, and fire lighting. These activities are designed to encourage a connection with nature and promote practical skills.
Participants are required to bring their own packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle for the day, with refills available. Mobile phones are not allowed during the event to ensure full immersion in the outdoor environment.
All sessions require prior booking, which can be made via email at BookingEmailfoxburrow.engagement@our website. It's important to note that there is an additional charge for the event. For more information about future holiday club dates and family events at Foxburrow, please contact the engagement team at foxburrow.engagement@our website.
In case of high winds or unsafe conditions, the session may be held in and around the yard for safety. Participants with limited mobility are advised to contact the organiser in advance, and the event is suitable for participants with assistance dogs only.
For those seeking a similar outdoor experience, the Holiday Club at Carlton Marshes offers a range of outdoor activities, games, free play in the woods, and crafts for children aged 6-11, starting from July 2025.
Remember, each participant must read and agree to the family and children's events terms and conditions before booking. These can be found on the website. Adults must drop off the young people and confirm emergency contact details with staff before departing.
