Taking a Quick Stop at The Cozy Corner

Going on a pub crawl across Berlin? Don't miss out on a visit to the legendary "The Cozy Corner". Tucked away in Tegel's Medebacher Weg, this atmosphere-filled joint is a must-visit for anyone seeking a genuine Berlin experience.

Walk into this nostalgic haven, and you'll instantly feel the vintage vibe. Dark wooden bars, old beer advertisements, and collectibles from the golden era of Berlin pubs; the room has been filled with the aroma of beer and cigarettes since 1912.

"This isn't just a pub, it's a home," says the proud landlord, Thomas (60), who has been running the place alongside his partner Michaela (56) for over half a decade. "I want everyone who walks through the door to feel at ease, never overlooked."

Thomas, a true-blue Berliner originally from the construction industry, has transformed into a warm-hearted pub owner. There's a group from Hennigsdorf who make a special trip because they can't find anything comparable back home. Need help or an open ear? This pub's got you covered.

Petra Kudill (71), who lives adjacent to the pub, has been a regular since 1971. "This is not just a cozy corner - it's my second living room. The warmth, the friendship, the camaraderie - it's an unbeatable feeling." Petra has witnessed the demise of many pubs in Tegel over the years, but she remains a devoted fixture at The Cozy Corner. "I know the place through various owners and even served behind the bar myself. It feels like home."

As you mingle and make new friends among the locals, Schaak Birkens (62), a Dutch native who's been a frequent visitor for four years, tells a unique tale. "The Cozy Corner feels like an old men's club, reunions take place every Saturday at 1 p.m. If one of us needs help, we're all there for each other."

The charm of The Cozy Corner lies in its intergenerational appeal. Despite being a nail-biting debate topic in Berlin today, the pub continues to welcome people from all age groups. "We throw a summer party for our regulars every year," shares Thomas. "With beer, grilled meatballs, wine, and even soup, on the house – it's our way of saying thank you for their loyalty."

When it comes to prices, The Cozy Corner keeps it fair and reasonable. A Schultheiss or Engelhardt (0.3 liters) sets you back 2.90 euros. If you're seeking a spirit or special drink deal, pop in during the week, and you won't be disappointed. Sundays are reserved for their engaging regular lottery.

"I'm a Tegel original, and that's how it will stay," echoes Petra. Grab a beer, strike up a conversation, and experience the authentic Tegel charm for yourself at The Cozy Corner. You're instantly a part of the crew - just don't forget to respect their rules. That's Tegel. That's The Cozy Corner.

At The Cozy Corner, you can enjoy a slice of local lifestyle, savoring food-and-drink specialties like Schultheiss or Engelhardt while soaking in the home-and-garden-like atmosphere. This cozy and welcoming pub, accessible in Tegel's Medebacher Weg, offers a collection of distinct charms, making it an ideal hub for both food-and-drink enthusiasts and home-and-garden lovers alike.
