The vending machines were forced to close due to an order from the Kreis Wesel, as there were legal objections regarding construction. The payment modules were apparently tightened by Hinrich, putting a temporary halt on purchases. Nevertheless, Hinrich and the city of Hünxe, along with political representatives, have been keeping busy, working to find a solution to the issue.
Despite the closure, Hinrich has been inundated with calls from customers, some even from Oberhausen and Voerde, wanting to buy his products. He shrugs, "Everyone I know is just shaking their heads." In 2023, Hinrich established "Herr Anton," offering eggs, grilled meat, and other products for purchase around the clock and 365 days a year. His vending machine location on the B58 opposite the Aral gas station in Drevenack, however, remains offline. Last year, it was closed after a break-in caused extensive property damage. The "Herr Anton" location has previously fallen victim to multiple thefts as well.
