Railway system LUCIE in the city does not serve as an alternative to bicycling.

Ludwigsburg's City-Express (LUCIE) serves as a bolster, rather than a rival, to cycling. This became apparent during the public engagement of the Stadtbahn association.

In a series of texts, the Stadtbahn Association has been providing answers to a wide range of questions raised during citizen participation events. The organization, which plays a significant role in implementing the traffic turnaround in several German cities, including Nürnberg, Bochum/Gelsenkirchen, and Berlin, is focused on providing clarity and addressing concerns about the upcoming tram project, known as LUCIE.

Michael Ilk, CEO of the Stadtbahn Association, states that the tram is a modern and efficient means of transport for all, including the elderly, disabled, and families with strollers. LUCIE vehicles are designed to transport various modes of transport, such as bicycles, strollers, mobility scooters, or e-scooters, making it an accessible and versatile option for the community.

The tram is not intended to compete with cycling but rather to complement it by providing spacious vehicles for transporting bicycles and other equipment. LUCIE operates reliably in all weather conditions, ensuring that citizens have a reliable means of transport regardless of the weather.

Addressing questions about funding, the Stadtbahn Association has outlined the funding ratio for the project. The organization believes that implementing LUCIE on their platform is a necessity in the traffic turnaround, as the increasing individual traffic is pushing streets and the environment to their limits.

In addition to funding, the Stadtbahn Association has also addressed questions about compensation measures and nature and species protection. The organization is committed to minimising the impact on the environment and ensuring that appropriate compensation is provided to those affected by the project.

LUCIE is accessible to people with disabilities, with vehicles designed to accommodate wheelchairs. The Stadtbahn Association's responses to questions are intended to address all important aspects of the tram project and reassure citizens about its impact.

The Stadtbahn Association's commitment to transparency and open communication is evident in their provision of answers to important questions raised during citizen participation events. As the tram project moves forward, the organization will continue to engage with the community and provide updates on the project's progress.
