Pumpkin display commences with verified plan, aiming for global record break
The Blühenden Barock Pumpkin Exhibition Returns with a Big Cinema Theme
The Blühenden Barock pumpkin exhibition in Ludwigsburg, Germany, is set to return for another year, promising an unforgettable experience for visitors from September 20 to November 2. As the world’s largest pumpkin exhibition, this event showcases intricate pumpkin sculptures, themed arrangements, and a variety of events that celebrate the versatility of pumpkins.
This year's theme is "Big Cinema," with 15 figures from film and television, including Lucky Luke, Harry Potter, Superman, Jedi Master Yoda, and Iron Man, on display. A central figure in the exhibition is Charlie Chaplin, made entirely of pumpkins, located on a viewing hill behind the Residenzschloss. A new addition to the exhibition starting August 27 is Iron Man, serving as a harbinger for the International Marvel Exhibition to be held at the Ludwigsburg Urban Harbor from October 17.
The artistic pumpkin sculptures are the main attraction, demonstrating exceptional creativity and craftsmanship. Visitors can admire huge, intricately designed figures and scenes crafted entirely from pumpkins. The exhibition also offers a beautiful backdrop with elaborate flower displays, sculptures, and fountains in the Blühenden Barock gardens, enriching the visitor experience.
In addition to the exhibits, visitors can enjoy a varied supporting program, including events and activities that enhance the festive atmosphere. Pumpkin gastronomy is available, featuring pumpkin soup, pumpkin cheese spaetzle, and pumpkin maultaschen, along with new offerings such as popcorn with pumpkin glaze and nachos made from pumpkin with pumpkin dip.
The pumpkin exhibition is organized by Jucker Farm AG from Switzerland. This year, around 900 varieties of pumpkins have been planted, potentially breaking the record of 643 different varieties. Germany's largest pumpkin soup will be cooked again at the end of September, and a new weight record could be set this year for the largest pumpkin. The German and European championships in pumpkin weighing will take place on October 5 and October 12, respectively.
Visitors are drawn to the classics, so the gastronomic offerings remain largely unchanged. The entrance fee for the Blühenden Barock remains unchanged: 13 euros during the week and 14 euros on weekends. The weekend surcharge was introduced last year to encourage visitors to come during the week.
A new event, possibly involving visitor costumes, will be introduced at the pumpkin exhibition on August 25. The exhibition will be integrated into the "Leuchtenden Traumpfade" from October 24. The pumpkin exhibition will end with the big pumpkin slaughter festival on November 2. Ahmad, a member of the Jucker Farm team, will be the new cook at the pumpkin exhibition kitchen.
The Blühenden Barock pumpkin exhibition is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and creative experience. With its stunning displays, delicious pumpkin-themed food, and varied events, this exhibition offers something for everyone. So, mark your calendars and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of pumpkins at the Blühenden Barock pumpkin exhibition in Ludwigsburg.
