Police in the Recklinghausen/Bottrop district are innovating - a new approach dubbed "AddressBAR" particularly targets young people
The Recklinghausen Police Headquarters is set to launch a new round of the event series "AnsprechBAR - the police gives out information." The series, designed specifically for students, aims to provide enlightenment about digital crime, prevention of violence and radicalization, promotion of media literacy, and building trust between police and young people.
The kick-off event for the "AnsprechBAR" dialogue series will take place next Thursday, 18th September 2025, at the Paul-Spiegel-Berufskolleg in Dorsten. The police directorate in Recklinghausen will lead this engaging and interactive event, which is meant to be exciting, relevant, and serious, not lecturing to young people.
The police will use a distinctive Airstream trailer as an eye-catcher and will bring the dialogue series to various schools in the Recklinghausen district and the city of Bottrop until early October. After the kick-off, the police will bring the dialogue series to every other city in the area of responsibility, with one date per city for now.
Participants can chat with police officers from different departments, discuss topics such as online dangers, knife violence, radicalization, and civil courage, and learn practical courses of action. The events will also be followed on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
