Kickstart the New Year with a new project! In partnership with Simply Knitting, we are delighted to announce a weekly knit-a-long for the next seven weeks.

Each week, we will release four stitch patterns on our website every Monday. By joining us, you can knit alongside a community of yarn enthusiasts. Stay updated through our dedicated knitting and crochet newsletter, sent out every Monday at 10 am. To ensure you don't miss out on new pattern releases, sign up now.

Our first installment of Ann Franklin's beautiful throw KAL in soft King Cole Comfort Baby DK is available now, complete with the initial four stitch patterns.

To participate in our Touch of Texture Blanket knit-along, prepare the following materials:

  • 6 balls of King Cole Comfort Baby DK (60% acrylic, 40% nylon, 100g/310m)
  • 4.5mm circular knitting needle, 80cm long
  • 4.5mm crochet hook (optional, for crochet cast on)
  • Cable needle
  • Stitch markers

For tension guidance, follow this guide:

18 stitches and 24 rows should measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over stockinette stitch using a 4.5mm needle.

The Touch of Texture Blanket measures 127cm in length and 90cm in width.

Our pattern uses standard UK knitting abbreviations. For a full list, check out our knitting abbreviations guide.

Many of the stitch patterns used in this blanket may have a slightly different tension (particularly row count) from the tension given for stocking stitch. However, there is no need to complete a separate tension square for each stitch pattern; as long as the tension for stocking stitch is correct, the overall sizing will be as given.

While you can use any method to cast on or off, we recommend the crochet cast on and cable cast off, because when used together, they create completely matching cast-on and cast-off edges.
