Requirements for Online Residence Registration in Bremen
- Valid identification documents: You need an official ID card (Personalausweis) or passport for identity verification.
- Exact data matching: The details you enter in the online form must align exactly with the data on your ID document.
- Single user account: Only one user account per person is permitted to avoid fraud.
- Address details: You must have your new address details ready (address, landlord confirmation if required).
- Age requirement for electronic identity (eID) if applicable: Must be 16 or older to use eID functions online.
After registration, you may need to update your address on your identity card or electronic residence permit if relevant.
Note: While the university’s Moin portal is mentioned for address changes of students, general residents should use the Bürgeramt services at the cited portals. The detailed process and document requirements are best confirmed on Bremen’s official service portal web pages where the application service is hosted.
If you have specific questions or difficulties setting up your user account or submitting documents, it is advised to contact Bremen Citizen’s Office support directly.
The online residence registration service is expected to benefit approximately 60,000 people annually. The service is hoped to free up capacity in the Citizen's Office. The Senator for the Interior and Sports, Ulrich Mäurer, has stated that the online service is a big plus for those moving within Bremen or to Bremen.
For a rental apartment, the landlord's confirmation must be uploaded. To create a user account, visit www.id.bund.de. A new address sticker for the ID card and/or passport will be sent by post after registration.
The online registration service is currently not available for moves from Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Bavaria, as spouses cannot be selected in the online service. The developers are working intensively to make it possible for spouses to be selected in the online service as soon as possible.
The online residence registration service in Bremen is now available from September 24th.
