New Town Hall Menden's cultural event, "Kyrill and the Past", featuring Winfried Groke's artifacts, set to unfold on June 15, 2025, in their foyer.

Neumarkt 5, 58706 Menden

Deputy Mayor Brigitta Erdem extended a warm welcome to everyone in attendance, including the esteemed photographer, Winfried Groke. Mrs. Erdem provided a quick introduction to the photographer and his work. Groke, a native of Menden now residing in Saarland, is a printer, photographer, and member of the prestigious German Society for Photography (DFA).

Challenging traditional perspectives, Groke experiments using unconventional light sources. Rather than following trends, he prefers to blaze his own trail.

Born in 1952 in Menden, Sauerland, Groke received training as a printer and spent 12 years working in the profession. He became a photographer in 1979, self-taught, and has been running his own business since 1984. He was appointed to the DFA in 2003.

Over the past three decades, Groke has been recognized for his creativity, innovation, flexibility, and reliability. His portfolio includes photographing products for companies, industries, online shops, magazines, and newspapers. His main areas of focus are product photography, industrial photography, food photography, advertising photography, and corporate photography.

WinG Technique

WinG is a special photographic process developed and patented by Groke, resulting in unique works of art that can be purchased. Price lists can be found in the foyer.

The event was accompanied by the soothing melodies of two talented harpists, Zoe Orlich and Michelle Schneider.

The exhibition can be viewed in the New Town Hall until August 19, 2025, during the following hours:

  • Monday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Thursday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Saturday (first Saturday of the month): 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

While some sources don't provide extensive recognition for Groke as a renowned photographer with a unique process or DFA membership, he might be more widely known in local Menden art circles. If you have more context, it might help to refine the search. To gain more information, consider visiting local Menden press, cultural centers, or art websites. Additionally, check the official DFA website, especially their member directory, if available. You could also reach out to local photography clubs or art associations in Menden for further details.

Groke, the acclaimed German photographer and printer, showcases his unique lifestyle and home-and-garden perspectives through his innovative WinG photographic process. His exhibition, featuring a diverse portfolio of product, industrial, food, advertising, and corporate photography, is on display at Neumarkt 5, Menden, until August 19, 2025.
