Bad Kissingen Terrace Swimming Pool Undergoes Modernization with New Attraction
The Bad Kissingen terrace swimming pool is currently undergoing a significant modernization, set to be completed by spring 2026. A key feature of this update is the installation of a new attraction called the Skyclimber, which will be located at the Springerbecken.
The Skyclimber is an acrylic climbing wall, standing 5.27 meters high, and offers various challenging grips for climbers. Unlike traditional climbing walls, climbers on the Skyclimber can climb up to 4.50 meters high from the water, using climbing grips, without the need for a harness, rope, or carabiners.
Spectators will have a clear view of climbers as the wall is anchored at the edge of the pool without any obstructive steel construction. The Skyclimber also features an overhang, ensuring climbers always land in the water.
The sports and diving pools are being clad with stainless steel, and the swimming pool technology is being updated with three heat pumps and a photovoltaic system. The paths and sunbathing areas around both pools are also being renewed.
The work is on schedule and within budget, with the total costs amounting to 7.9 million euros. In addition to the Skyclimber, the modernization includes the renovation of the entrance building and ticket system.
The lower swimming pool area with the renovated diving tower and new climbing wall will only be opened after the completion of the overall project in spring 2026. A barrier-free access to the lower swimming pool area is planned, with separate access and barrier-free parking spaces for people with disabilities.
Currently, the terrace swimming pool is operating partially as a family pool in the upper area at reduced entrance fees.
