This breathtaking natural sanctuary officially unlocked its gates in 2015, encompassing 10,000 hectares—a vast majority within Rhineland-Palatinate and a generous portion in Saarland.
At the park's inception, just a quarter of it was its untamed self. The aim then was to cultivate 75% wild nature by 2045. However, it seems the wilderness is evolving faster than anticipated, with the mission's timeline potentially moving up to 2030, according to the Ministry of the Environment.
