Music festival Lido Sounds, held in Linz, resumes after a three-year hiatus

In a surprising turn of events, the organisers of the Lido Sounds music festival in Linz, Austria, have announced that the event will not take place in 2026. The official announcement was made by Arcadia via social media on July 23, 2025.

The festival, which has been a highlight in Linz's cultural calendar since its inception in 2019, has been a platform for bringing international acts to Upper Austria's capital that wouldn't normally perform there. Over the years, it has attracted big names such as Florence + the Machine, Deichkind, Die Toten Hoson, Kraftklub, Nina Chuba, Parov Stelar, Sam Smith, and Kings of Leon.

However, this year saw a significant drop in attendance, with only 20,000 guests compared to the 70,000 who attended in 2024. Despite the strong support from the city government, the festival did not manage to break even by 2025, as had been its goal.

The festival director, David Dittrich, had previously stated in June 2022 that they had already booked for 2026. However, it seems that plans have changed, and the festival will not be held for a fourth time in Linz.

The commitment to Linz as a concert stage has always been clear, but it appears that the festival may be seeking a new home. At this point, it's unclear if the festival will find a new location or if it will be a permanent end to the popular event.

The festival took place from June 27 to 29 this year, but the organisers' recent announcement has brought a halt to the Linz event starting next year. The future of the Lido Sounds festival remains uncertain, leaving many music lovers in Linz and beyond wondering what the future holds for this beloved event.
