Messiah Lutheran Church marks its 75th anniversary in Fargo, North Dakota

Messiah Lutheran Church in Fargo is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary on September 21, 20XX. The celebration will be a homecoming for members and guests alike, as stated by Erik Eide, the anniversary committee chair.

The church, known for its neighbourhood congregation reputation, started in 1950 as Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Sunday School mission supported by Fargo's Elim Lutheran Church, founded by Swedish Lutherans in 1891. It is best known for "The Hour of Worship," a televised service that began in 1967 and airs across North Dakota, neighboring states, and Canada. In Fargo-Moorhead, "The Hour of Worship" can be watched at 11 a.m. Sundays on WDAY-TV.

The anniversary day's worship will commence at 9 a.m. at 2010 Elm St. N. The theme for this year's anniversary is "The faith of a few is a blessing for many." The celebration will include music, historical highlights, and an open mic for members and guests to share memories.

A catered meal will be served at 11:30 a.m., featuring Swedish meatballs as a nod to Elim Lutheran's role in launching Messiah Lutheran Church. The celebration will also include hymns and memories, providing an opportunity for everyone, whether they have worshiped at Messiah Lutheran Church decades ago or are discovering it for the first time, to be part of the story.

The community is invited to join the church's anniversary celebration. Whether you are a long-time member or a curious visitor, everyone is welcome to celebrate the church's rich history and look forward to its future.
