Starved Rock Area Communities Host National Night Out Events

The Starved Rock area is gearing up for a series of community events, with the National Night Out (NNO) taking center stage. These events, scheduled mostly on August 5, 2025, aim to bring people together, foster police-community partnerships, and provide a fun-filled evening for all ages.

In Spring Valley, Jaimie London from Starved Rock Media will broadcast live from the festivities at Kirby Park. The event will offer a variety of activities, including free swimming, dodgeball, and a bounce house, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The evening will also provide opportunities for interaction and getting to know neighbors and first responders.

Other communities participating in the NNO include Ottawa, Marseilles, Oglesby, and Fulton (near Starved Rock).

In Ottawa, Peck Park (1510 State St.) will host the NNO from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring free food, bounce houses, face painting, prizes, music, Touch-a-Truck, and more. Another social media post confirms NNO at Peck Park from 5-8 p.m. with bounce houses, face painting, games, and food.

Marseilles will hold its NNO at the Marseilles swimming pool (555 Commercial St.) from 5 to 8 p.m. Activities include free food, swimming, waterslides, a magic show, and other activities.

Oglesby will host a First Responder Night, similar to NNO, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oglesby Pool (55 Pool Dr.) with food, swimming, a foam machine, bounce house, and other activities.

Fulton (near Starved Rock) will hold its NNO event on August 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Drives Park, with Fulton Police and Fun Crew hosting.

In the Bradley/Bourbonnais area, National Night Out will take place at Perry Farm Park on Kennedy Drive, starting at 4 p.m. Food service will begin at 5 p.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., music by Lois & Dave and Cosmic Rewind with The Silhouettes, and fireworks. Free hot dogs, water, school supply bags, a food donation raffle, and autograph signing by former Bears player Doug Plank are among the offerings.
