Launched Successfully: Innovative Senior Cycling Program Debuts in Borken County - More Dates Announced Soon
County Borken, renowned for its high pedelec ownership rate, took a significant step forward in promoting cycling safety for seniors today. The County Police Department Borken launched a new senior cycling concept in Gronau, with the event attended by twelve seniors and police officers.
The goal of this innovative initiative is to combine the joy of cycling with practical tips for accident prevention. County Commissioner Dr. Kai Zwicker, Chief Police Director Paul Albers, Police Director Dominik Rezler, and Christian Pieper were present at the event, which was spearheaded by the County Police Department Borken's Klaus Enning.
The special objectives of the event include focusing on safety and prevention, particularly for older cyclists in County Borken. Police officers provided tips on behaviour at intersections, roundabouts, correct use of bike lanes, and the importance of helmets, lights, and traffic-safe equipment.
The number of participants in this concept is limited to a maximum of twelve people to ensure a personalised and effective learning experience. The route of the ride is based on current accident hotspots in the county area, making it an invaluable resource for seniors looking to stay safe on their bikes.
Senior cycling events, part of the preventive work of County Borken and the police, will take place regularly in the future. Dates for the year 2025 will be announced soon, and media inquiries can be directed to the County Police Department Borken's official website (https://borken.polizei.nrw).
For media representatives, the contact is Sandra Biedermann, Leonie Dreier, Markus Huls, Peter Lefering, Thorsten Ohm, Muzeyyen Sander, Tina Schellberg. The organisers of the senior cycling concept invite all interested seniors to note the upcoming dates in their calendars. Further dates for the year 2026 will be published at the beginning of the next year by the police.
County Borken has the highest ownership rate of pedelecs nationwide, making it the perfect location for a senior cycling concept. The concept aims to promote safe cycling among seniors, helping them to maintain their independence and enjoy the benefits of cycling for years to come.
