Lids Debuts First Kids' Private Label: Explore by Lids
Sports apparel retailer Lids has announced the launch of Explore by Lids, its first private label designed exclusively for children, according to a company press release. The line consists of snapbacks and bucket hats, featuring designs inspired by the solar system, wildlife, rocket ships, and shooting stars. The brand is currently available in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand to adult sizes in October.
The concept originated from a pitch presented by summer interns during an eight-week program last year. The idea was developed and eventually evolved into Lids' first children's private label. According to a recent blog post by the company, the collection offers a variety of patterns, colors, and hat silhouettes for young fashion enthusiasts.
Two of the interns who contributed to the concept's creation are now full-time employees at Lids. Britten Maughan, president of Lids, expressed his pride in the former interns' accomplishments, stating that Explore by Lids was designed to nurture growth and inspire imagination, values that align with the company's ethos.
In other recent news, Lids has opened three new Lids University stores, a retail concept focused on collegiate sports and apparel, on July 22. The stores have launched in Chicago, Buford, Georgia, and San Marcos, Texas, with plans to launch a total of 11 locations this year. Additionally, Lids expanded its presence in Europe at the end of last year by opening four stand-alone stores in the London metropolitan area. The company has expressed its intention to strengthen its global footprint in 2022.
