Newborn Kangaroo Arrives at Solingen Bird and Animal Park

A magical Christmas surprise has occurred at the Solingen Bird and Animal Park, as a newborn kangaroo has made its debut. The mother, Kerstin, a red-necked wallaby, gave birth on the second day of Christmas.

Kerstin, who has previously birthed offspring, welcomed her new addition to the cozy confines of the park. The gender of the newborn is currently unknown, but most park employees suspect it might be a female, based on their previous experiences with kangaroos.

The father of the newborn arrived at the park about two years ago, and Kerstin has lived harmoniously with the other animals in the enclosure ever since. Interestingly, males of the kangaroo species tend to stay longer in the pouch compared to females.

Kerstin and her offspring belong to the red-necked wallaby species, known for their leaping ability and social behavior. The Solingen Bird Park offers insights into the animal world, providing information about various habitats and behaviors.

The newborn kangaroo emerged from Kerstin's protective pouch for the first time, marking a significant milestone in its development. Visitors to the park can observe the growth and development of the newborn kangaroo, as the Solingen Bird Park remains open during winter for guests.

The park's opening hours from December to February are DI-SO 9-16 h, with Monday closed. For the most recent updates on their animals, including the newborn kangaroo, we recommend checking the official website or social media channels of Solingen Bird and Animal Park.

As the newborn kangaroo continues to grow, the park's keepers will be eagerly awaiting the moment when they can determine its gender, which can only be done when the young animal has grown enough to leave the pouch. Until then, the newborn kangaroo will continue to thrive in its home at Solingen Bird and Animal Park.

Despite the winter chill, the Solingen Bird and Animal Park has warmly welcomed a new addition to its home-and-garden habitat – a baby red-necked wallaby kwala. As Kerstin, the mother kangaroo, nurtures her pet in the cozy confines of the enclosure, its gender remains a mystery and a topic of curiosity among park employees.

Embracing the festive emotions of the season, this adorable pet and its unique lifestyle serve as another testament to Solingen Bird and Garden Park's commitment towards bringing the joy of nature and pets to its visitors.
