IIM Ranchi's Green Campus & Nature Connect Initiative: Peddling Sustainability and a Fit Life
Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi Moves Ahead with Eco-Friendly Agenda
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi went all-out for World Bicycle Day, expanding its green efforts through the 'Green Campus & Nature Connect' initiative. This event, brimming with enthusiasm, saw students, faculty, and staff peddling their way to an eco-friendly and healthy campus environment.
In the whirlwind of today's world, it's easy to overlook our health. Professor Deepak Srivastava, IIM Ranchi's big boss, emphasized the importance of this initiative: "While we're burning the midnight oil, we tend to neglect our health. Cycling? It's good for your body, your mind, and your wallet. The Green Campus initiative encourages us all to adopt a healthier lifestyle."
He further elucidated that motorized two-wheelers and four-wheelers are off the menu for students living on campus, nudging them to hop on those two-wheelers with pedals instead. This move doubles as a step towards environmental conservation and a fitness push for the students.
IIM Ranchi is fixated on creating a campus where eco-friendly vehicles like bicycles and electric vehicles (EVs) take center stage, pushing fossil fuel-powered vehicles to the sidelines. To help students get peddling, the institute has provided bicycles at various stands across campus. The users are left to maintain these eco-friendly steeds.
The cycling shindig drew involvement from all corners of the IIM Ranchi community, with professors like Prof. Angshuman Hazarika and Prof. Gaurav Manohar Marathe, along with Senior Administrative Officer Wg. Cdr. (Retired) Thokchom Basantakumar, joining the pedalparty.
