Get ready to make a splash as the swimming season takes off in Lower Austria! The Akademiebad is leading the charge, opening its doors on April 26th,Setting the tone for an action-packed summer. While other cities might still be shivering, Wiener Neustadt is already sunbathing and diving headfirst into the water!
Looking forward, the "Aqua Nova" won't be far behind, opening on May 17th. From May to September, these outdoor paradises will be bursting with laughter, lively activity, and exhilarating water sports. If you're a serious swimmer, even the sports pool will keep you floating until the end of October.
In 2024, both pools enjoyed a buoyant visitor turnout—31,900 guests at the Akademiebad broke a new record, while the "Aqua Nova" swam past the 330,000 mark, with a staggering 124,000 visitors during the summer months alone.
Akademiebad: The Freshened-up Energy Hub
The Akademiebad underwent a snazzy refurbishment. A brand-new roof now topples over the main building, while state-of-the-art tech hums underneath, ensuring warm water without gas-guzzling. Wind power east-coasts the scene with a cutting-edge photovoltaic system packing 49.5 kWp. The teaching pool saves energy with a heat-retaining cover, and the entire pool water technology has been updated to the latest eco-friendly standards.
Parking won't be an issue either. The "Park and Swim" action lets drivers park in the nearby Hauptplatz garage for only 2 euros a day! A splash-tastic bargain, indeed. And don't forget the much-anticipated swimming highlight, the Burgenland State Championships, taking place on June 14th and 15th at the sports pool--don't miss out!
Aqua Nova: Going Green at the Stadium
The "Aqua Nova" isn't far behind, sporting a new photovoltaic system crowning the stadium roof, producing 310 kWp of solar power. Additional power will emerge in mid-May, courtesy of a new parking lot canopy boasting a whopping 350 kWp of photovoltaic capacity, offering both shade and power to parked vehicles. Chi-ch-ching!
