The much-anticipated Panoramabad Wartberg project in Pforzheim is moving forward with exciting developments. The city council has announced plans to expand and renovate the outdoor pool area, as well as construct a new indoor pool facility.

The outdoor pool area will see the addition of a new non-swimmer pool and a children's wading pool, both strategically located near the indoor pool area. The swimming pool, diving pool, and 10-meter diving tower will be retained during the renovation.

The architectural firm responsible for the project aims to retain the character and quality of the pool while ensuring sustainability by equipping it with new technology. A significant challenge in the process has been bridging the deep divides between supporters and opponents of the "combination pool solution."

The indoor pool area on the ground floor will include a 25-meter swimming pool with six lanes, a leisure pool, a teaching/swimming pool, a diving board with 1- and 3-meter platforms, a small children's wading pool, and a "spray park" for small children. An indoor catering facility will be integrated.

The first floor will house a 550-square-meter sauna landscape with various sauna types, a cooling pool, and relaxation areas. The roof will feature sauna outdoor facilities and an "infinity pool" at the peak of the roof structure. The Panorama Sauna on the roof, with an area of 40 square meters, will also be accessible.

The building to be erected on the southern side of the Wartberg pool site is a "terraced" structure with panoramic windows. A smaller outdoor catering area on the operating building will continue to serve the popular "Wartberg pool fries."

Mayor Peter Boch and First Mayor Dirk Büscher led the joy surrounding the developments around the Wartberg pool site. The city council's final approval for financing and construction is aimed to be achieved by the 1st quarter of 2024, but may be delayed due to the local election campaign.

The first tenders could be issued at the beginning of 2025. While the opening date for the combined baths is cautiously optimistic, with May 2027 being named as a potential date, it's important to note that this timeline is subject to the city council's approval of financing and construction progress.

The new indoor pool is budgeted at around 53 million euros, while the renovation of the outdoor pool is expected to cost around 12 million euros. The design of the "Panoramabad Wartberg" was chosen from the final five proposals by Stuttgart architectural firm asp architects.

For the latest updates on the construction progress, financing, or opening date of the Panoramabad Wartberg project, we recommend reaching out to local authorities or official project communications. As of July 2025, specific updates on the project's current status are not available due to limited information in the public domain.

The Panoramabad Wartberg project will not only focus on sports with the expansion and renovation of the outdoor pool area, but also cater to a variety of lifestyles by introducing a new non-swimmer pool and children's wading pool near the indoor pool. Moreover, the home-and-garden enthusiasts can look forward to an indoor catering facility and a sauna landscape with panoramic windows being built in this project.
