Ingolstadt to establish local partnership with Deutsche Bahn, assuming regional role in collaboration.
Ingolstadt Proposes Application for Deutsche Bahn's Radplus Program
In a joint proposal, the factions of UWG, the Greens, and the SPD have put forth the idea of Ingolstadt applying for participation in Deutsche Bahn AG's Radplus program. The initiative aims to incentivize local residents to use bicycles instead of cars, in line with Ingolstadt's Bike-Friendly Municipality status.
Inexpensive incentives, such as collaboration with Deutsche Bahn, could increase interest in cycling and encourage more frequent use of bicycles. To solidify its commitment to sustainable transportation, the city, which is a founding member of the "Working Group for Bike-Friendly Municipalities in Bavaria e.V.", established in 2012, is considering applying for the Radplus program.
The Radplus program, offered by Deutsche Bahn AG, rewards participants with exclusive discounts and rewards based on the kilometers cycled. The program is already in operation in several Bavarian cities, making it an attractive proposition for Ingolstadt.
The proposal, supported by UWG faction leader Christian Lange, Councilor Dr. Christoph Spaeth of the Greens, and Councilor Quirin Witty of the SPD, states that participating in the program would help Ingolstadt achieve its climate and mobility goals, while simultaneously developing and expanding demand-oriented bike paths.
By participating in the Radplus program, Ingolstadt would not only inspire its citizens to cycle more but also contribute to traffic reduction, air quality improvements, and the health and well-being of its residents. The program also provides a direct incentive to cycle, fosters a sense of community among participants, and demonstrates the municipality's commitment to cycling.
- The Radplus program, offered by Deutsche Bahn AG, aligns well with Ingolstadt's status as a Bike-Friendly Municipality, as it rewards participants with health-and-wellness benefits, such as exclusive discounts and rewards based on the kilometers cycled.
- To further promote fitness-and-exercise and support a healthy lifestyle, the city of Ingolstadt is considering applying for Deutsche Bahn AG's Radplus program, which could not only inspire its citizens to cycle more but also contribute to traffic reduction and air quality improvements.
- As part of its commitment to sustainable living and home-and-garden initiatives, Ingolstadt's proposal for the Radplus program aims to develop and expand demand-oriented bike paths, thereby enhancing the city's science, health-and-wellness, and lifestyle appeal.
