Strap on your skates, folks! The ice-skating season has begun once more in good old Hamburg. It's not just the indoor hockey arenas where you can slide around – some popular Hamburg parks also offer a slice of wintry fun.

Eisarena: Ice-Skating on 4,300 Square Meters

Don't miss out on the 4,300 square meter Holstenwall Ice Rink, one of Europe's largest outdoor rinks! Expect over 100,000 visitors this season, so reports the NDR. In addition to ice-skating, you can also practice your aim with ice-stock shootout on a separate zone. The ice rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (closes at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays), with family-friendly rates on Tuesdays. Every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m., veteran figure skater Heinz Germershausen offers training sessions for everyone. Plus, there's Ladies Night and Club Night for those who enjoy skating to the tunes of the charts. Check out the Eis-Arena's homepage for details and schedules.

Following Professionals' Footsteps: Ice-Skating at Stellingen

Known primarily for the ice hockey matches of the Hamburg SV, the Stellingen Ice Rink is now open for amateur ice-skaters in the western reaches of the city since October 12th. The overhang offers protection from wind, rain, and snow. From Tuesday to Sunday, two to three skating sessions are offered.

Eisland Farmsen: Ice-Skating in Any Weather

Run by the Bäderland, this 1,800 square meter rink features amazing tunes, mood-enhancing lighting effects, and an impressive video screen that will make your ice-skating experience more entertaining. Every Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m., the rink transforms into a cool disco. The Eisland operates from Tuesday to Sunday at various ice times.

Mobile Ice Rinks: Winter Golf, Ice-Stock Shootout, and Ice-Skating

Apart from permanent ice rinks, you'll find some mobile ice rinks popping up during the holiday season in Hamburg. From November 1st, the 240 square meterLike-Ice-Bahn returns to the Wandsbek Market Square. This eco-friendly rink made of energy-efficient and recyclable plastic is open daily from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

At the Hafencity Weihnachtsmarkt, the Winter Golf has become a permanent fixture. The fully festive golfing range with thirteen individual tracks beckons kids and adults alike to play. The golf course opens from November 18th. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.

A smaller artificial ice rink can be found at the Wintergarten St. Pauli, which is dedicated to ice-stock shootout and opens from November 14th.
