The iconic Sendlinger-Tor-Kino, one of Munich's oldest cinemas, has undergone a transformation and is now a vibrant cafe. The building, now sporting a mint green facade, houses the new establishment named "plex."

Max Kamp (25), the managing director of the new cafe, has taken great care to preserve the historic charm of the foyer, with its peach-colored walls, old wooden counter, and display cases adorned with gold frames.

The cafe offers a variety of drinks, including coffee, matcha, and other beverages. An espresso costs 1.50 euros, an Americano two euros, a matcha latte four euros, and with blueberry or vanilla flavor, it's priced at five euros.

In addition to the traditional coffee offerings, Max Kamp plans to reactivate the historic popcorn machine and offer popcorn with coffee. He also intends to show short films in the back area of the foyer, possibly in early September.

The cafe guests have a small seating area, and they may also use the tables from the neighboring Giesinger. This arrangement provides a comfortable and inviting space for patrons to enjoy their drinks and snacks.

Fritz Preßmar, the former cinema operator, feels a little hurt that the historic place no longer exists as it was. However, he acknowledges that the chapter is closed, and the building now serves a new purpose, breathing new life into the historic site.

This trend of converting former cinema spaces into café venues is not unique to the Sendlinger-Tor-Kino. Other cinemas in Munich, such as Hofstatt Open Air Kino, have been repurposed for hospitality or café use after their cinematic function ended.

In summary, the Sendlinger-Tor-Kino has been transformed into a chic cafe, retaining its cultural relevance while offering fair-priced coffee, matcha, and more in a historic setting. The new establishment, "plex," is a must-visit for coffee lovers and cinema enthusiasts alike.

In the transformed Sendlinger-Tor-Kino, one can appreciate a fusion of lifestyle and fashion-and-beauty, as Max Kamp, the managing director, plans to present short films and reactivate the historic popcorn machine for patrons. Moreover, home-and-garden enthusiasts may savor their drinks in the preserved historic foyer, adorned with period details.
