Hessian Pumpkin Weighing Championship: 594kg Winner Heads to USA

The 'First Hessian Pumpkin Weighing Championship', organised by Paul's Farm, took place in Hofheim am Taunus. The heaviest pumpkin, weighing 594 kilograms, won the competition. The winner, Paulinenpflege from Winnenden, received a 500 euro prize and a gift basket worth over 100 euros. The pumpkin will be exhibited until October 31, if agreed by the grower.

The winning pumpkin, a botanical berry, was entered by both professional growers and local institutions like kindergartens, schools, and clubs. It fell short of the German record of 1,052 kilograms but was heavier than the average entry. The pumpkin is intended for seed extraction to grow a larger one next year, rather than consumption. The winner also qualifies for the 'Great Pumpkin Commonwealth' final in the USA and receives the title of Hessian Pumpkin Curling Champion.

The competition was part of a larger event that included the 'First Hessian Pumpkin Curling'. The heaviest pumpkin weighed less than the Guinness World Record of 1,247 kilograms, held by an American.

The 'First Hessian Pumpkin Weighing Championship' concluded with Paulinenpflege's 594-kilogram pumpkin taking the title. The winner received a substantial prize and the opportunity to compete internationally. The pumpkin will be on display until the end of October, pending the grower's consent.
