**Revived Chu Dậu Pottery Shines in the Global Spotlight**

Chu Dậu pottery, a centuries-old craft from Vietnam, has regained its prominence in the global arena, thanks to a recent resurgence and a visit by foreign dignitaries.

Originating from Chu Dậu village in Thủy Nguyên District, Hải Phòng, this traditional craft has been recognized for its unique designs and techniques, contributing significantly to Vietnam's cultural heritage. The pottery, with its natural glazes and traditional motifs, has a distinctive allure that has captured the attention of art enthusiasts worldwide.

The pottery's history dates back to the 15th century, with artisans developing distinct methods and materials that have been passed down through generations. During the Nguyễn dynasty, Chu Dậu pottery was highly regarded, with many pieces being exported to other countries in Southeast Asia and beyond. However, the industry faced challenges and declined over time due to various economic and social factors.

In recent years, there has been a concerted effort to revive and promote Chu Dậu pottery. A notable milestone in this revival was the visit of an APEC delegation to the village, which offered the guests a glimpse into the unique cultural aspects of Hải Phòng and strengthened Vietnam's ties with global partners[1][3].

The visit, hosted by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, allowed the guests to explore the pottery-making process, admire ceramic displays, and even try painting. Each piece of Chu Dậu pottery undergoes a five-step process: clay preparation, shaping, pattern decoration, glazing, and firing[2].

Investment opportunities and policy proposals for promoting Vietnamese pottery, specifically Chu Dậu pottery, in Taiwan have also been expressed by Amy Chien, a Taiwanese investor[1]. Strategies for expanding global market presence include export promotions, e-commerce platforms, cultural exchange programs, and artisan training[4].

Today, Chu Dậu pottery is available in over 30 countries, displayed in major global museums, and chosen as premium diplomatic gifts from Vietnam[3]. With its rich history and unique aesthetic, Chu Dậu pottery has the potential to appeal to markets worldwide where traditional crafts are valued.
