Join the Young Wardens group for a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and gain hands-on practical experience at Lackford Lakes. The exact date for the event is yet to be announced, but you can stay updated by visiting our website.

Young Wardens offers a range of activities designed to engage young volunteers. From learning to use tools safely and carrying out practical tasks that contribute to the management of the reserve, to conducting surveys of key wildlife species, there's something for everyone.

The program also provides outdoor activities, opportunities to earn the Duke of Edinburgh award, and a chance to meet new friends. It's open to volunteers who are 17 years old and above. For more information, please contact lackford.engagement@ourwebsite.

Due to the nature of the sessions, it's important to note that they take place on areas of the reserve away from footpaths. If you have mobility requirements, please discuss these with the organizer beforehand.

Remember to bring plenty of water and a packed lunch/snacks for the Young Wardens session. Children should also wear long trousers and sturdy footwear with thick soles. Inappropriately dressed children may not be able to participate.

Dogs are not allowed in the visitor center, blue Trail near the lakes or hides, but are permitted on Sayer's Breck path and Church Walk, except for assistance dogs. The meeting point for the event can be found using the What3Words address: pencils.reckons.complies.

It's essential that children attending Young Wardens sessions are dropped off by an adult who can provide emergency contact details at the start of the session. Unfortunately, Young Wardens are not permitted to attend the session alone.

For more information about the Young Wardens program and its activities, you can look at other events on our website. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to contact the organizer.
