One-third of German households reported having up to five board or card games, suggesting a significant presence of these games in German homes. This trend is interpreted by experts as a longing for slowing down and a sense of belonging among Germans.

Classic games like 'Settlers of Catan', 'Ticket to Ride', and 'Scrabble' are well-known and enjoyed worldwide, including in Germany. A low-cost game, 'Scout', has also been noted as a popular choice, though its specific popularity in Germany is not fully detailed.

The German gaming sector has produced several internationally successful games, such as 'The Settlers of Catan', designed by Klaus Teuber, a well-known game inventor in Germany. This game, translated into 35 languages, achieved a sales hit in 1995 and has thrilled game lovers worldwide.
