France's Lingerie Boom: Sales Up 1.9% in H1 2011
The lingerie industry in France is booming, with sales increasing by 1.9% in the first half of 2011. Women are spending more on intimate fashion, with specialized chains being the top choice for consumers. The International Lingerie Show and Interfilière Paris are set to showcase the latest trends in January 2012.
France is leading the European lingerie market, with a 1.9% increase in sales during the first half of 2011. Women are driving this growth, allocating 99 euros to intimate fashion in 2010, a 0.9% increase from the previous year. Specialized chains are the preferred shopping destination, with a 3.1% increase in sales compared to the first half of 2010.
Looking ahead, loungewear and homewear are expected to occupy 26% of retail space, reflecting a growing trend. The upcoming International Lingerie Show and Interfilière Paris will cater to this trend, featuring 550 brands from 33 countries and expecting around 18,400 visitors. Spanish brands such as Desigual, Andrés Sarda, Selmark, and Punto Blanco will be among the exhibitors. The event will also present daily conferences on industry trends and consumer behaviour, in association with Kantar World Panel.
The 49th International Lingerie Show and the first edition of Interfilière Paris will take place in Paris from January 21 to 23, 2012. The fair will showcase the latest trends in intimate, swimwear, and home fashion at Porte de Versailles, Pavilion number one. With France leading the European lingerie market and consumers increasingly favouring specialized chains, the industry is poised for continued growth.
