Following in the footsteps of Raiffeisen, events take place in Heddesdorf

City excursion with themed walk through the city center scheduled for October 5th. Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, a significant figure, is widely recognized as the most impactful individual to have contributed to Neuwied's history.

Following in the footsteps of Raiffeisen, events take place in Heddesdorf

On Sunday, 5th October, Neuwied's Tourist Information (TI) will offer an exciting city tour dedicated to the legacy of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, a figure considered instrumental in Neuwied's history.

The Raiffeisen city tour will depart from the Raiffeisen monument at 2 PM and head towards Heddesdorf. Key stops on this tour include the former mayor's office, the Raiffeisen family's residence, the Raiffeisen printing house, and Raiffeisen's grave at the cemetery on Sohler Weg.

For those interested in exploring Neuwied's city centre and its many attractions, an alternative tour will be available on the same day. This tour will revisit key moments in Neuwied's history and feature landmarks such as the Market Church, the Schärjer monument, and the Herrnhuter Quarter.

The Raiffeisen city tour requires prior registration by October 3rd. Registration can be done by phone at 02631/802 5555, by email at [email protected], or in person at the TI office at Marktstraße 59 during opening hours. No prior registration is required for the city walk.

The participation fee for both tours is 6 euros for adults and 4 euros for children aged 6 to 14. Children under 6 can participate in the tours for free.

The city walk begins at Neuwied Castle and lasts approximately an hour and a half. In addition to the city walk, visitors can also find a Raiffeisen statue at the Kreis-Museum and a Rhine bridge named after him in Neuwied.
