On the 9th of August, the small village of Mildenitz will come alive with a double celebration, honouring the 75-year anniversary of their volunteer fire department and the annual village festival. The event will take place at the local sports field, promising a day filled with fun, food, and firefighting demonstrations.

The celebrations will include a small technology exhibition by the fire department, showcasing their modern equipment and techniques. Visitors can expect a fascinating glimpse into the world of firefighting, although specific details about the presentation are yet to be announced.

A large tent has been organized for everyone, offering a comfortable space to enjoy the various activities planned for the day. For the younger visitors, there will be tractor rides, bouncy castles, crafting, face painting, and gingerbread-making sessions.

In the evening, the festivities will continue with dancing starting at 8 pm. DJ Hans will provide the atmosphere, ensuring a lively end to the day.

Firefighters from neighbouring departments, including a ladder truck from Strasburg, will support their Mildenitz counterparts. A highlight of the day will be a demonstration by the youth fire brigade, showcasing their fire-fighting skills.

Despite the lack of detailed records before 1950, it is known that firefighting in small towns like Mildenitz was often organised by volunteer fire brigades using basic equipment. Records of the Mildenitz fire department's early days are scarce, with the oldest photos dating back to 1988.

For those interested in learning more about the Mildenitz firefighters before 1950, consulting local historical archives, fire brigade museums, or German fire service historical publications would be necessary.

To fuel the celebrations, a pig on a spit will be provided by the Mildenitz agricultural company, ensuring that everyone's appetite is catered for.

Photos from the first departmental fireball in 1997 in Groß Daberkow and the second in 1998 in Mildenitz are available, offering a glimpse into the camaraderie and spirit of these events.

The anniversary celebrations and village festival promise to be a memorable day for the residents of Mildenitz and a great opportunity for visitors to experience the warmth and community spirit of this small village. No entrance fee is required for the evening events, making it an accessible celebration for all.

Amidst the festivities, a showcase of outdoor living and home-and-garden ideas will be featured, inviting visitors to explore modern lifestyle trends integrated within firefighters' homes and stations. Additionally, outdoor-living enthusiasts can anticipate witnessing the youth fire brigade's demonstration of fire-fighting skills, which will blend the essence of both the fire department anniversary and the village festival.
