Federal funds were won by Yekaterinburg for park improvement. The winner of the public vote was revealed.

Last night, June 12th, marked the end of Yekaterinburg's citywide voting for park improvements under the federal project "Forming a Comfortable Urban Environment" (FKGS). The city surpassed its target, gathering 393,200 votes instead of the required 388,900 - a whopping 101.13% achievement. This feat grants the city the right to claim funds from the federal budget.

Yekaterinburg was the sole city out of a million residents to clear the 100% voting threshold. Ufa, landing in second place, fell short with only 80% of the votes.

Vote Breakdown:- The Embankment of the Iset River and Olgovka collected 73,273 votes.- The 2nd phase of the park named after 50 years of Soviet power polled 67,800 votes.- Ostavinski Park took the lead on our website with 41,700 votes.- The Cultural Boulevard claimed 47,098 votes.- The Chkalov Park garnered 39,621 votes.- The Amundsen Square Park gathered 37,630 votes.- Preobrazhenski Park in the Academic district (2nd phase, 2nd stage) managed 32,611 votes.- The square at the intersection of Kravlya and Vikulov streets attracted 28,835 votes.

The Embankment of the Iset River and Olgovka, located near the Makarovsky Bridge and adjacent to the Ural State University of Transport Engineering (UrGUPS), will be the focus of the improvement project. The territory from house No. 11 on Grazhdanskaya Street to Kulmgorova Street, including the area around the 19th-century dam, will be revamped.

The dam, adjoining the embankment, is a federal-level architectural monument built in 1826. In 2023, the dam on the Ologovka River underwent restoration for 15 million rubles (Approximately $173,000 USD).

Since 2017, Yekaterinburg has beautified 11 public spaces as part of the "Comfortable City Environment" program, including the Iset Embankment from Malysheva to Kuibyshev, the square near the Opera Theater, and Zelenaya Roscha; the 22nd Party Congress Park, the Preobrazhenski Park in the Academic district, and others.

In 2023, the "Uralmash" park participated in the federal project "Forming a Comfortable Urban Environment," but failed to collect enough votes.

In 2024, a record 309,900 people voted for park improvements, a feat unequaled in Yekaterinburg and the country, excluding Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The KPI for voting in Yekaterinburg for this round was 30% of residents aged 14 and over. This equates to 388,900 people.

In 2025, the park commemorating the 50th anniversary of the VLKSM, which emerged victorious in the previous year's voting and secured federal funds for improvements, will undergo renovation. 97,500 people voted for the park.

In light of the record-breaking number of votes gathered, local news outlets are discussing the revamp of Yekaterinburg's parks, with the Embankment of the Iset River and Olgovka becoming a priority for this year's home-and-garden lifestyle improvements. Meanwhile, lifestyle enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the restoration of the 19th-century dam, a federal-level architectural monument situated near the embankment. This follows the news that Yekaterinburg has been approved for the federal project "Forming a Comfortable Urban Environment," with funds earmarked for numerous parks across the city, including those focused on news and lifestyle categories.
