Expands cycling community in Dietzenbach with the addition of 144 new bike enthusiasts
In an effort to promote local mobility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the city of Dietzenbach is expanding its bicycle parking spaces. The funding for this project comes from the National Climate Protection Initiative, which covers 65% of the costs, while the remaining 35% is being provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
The city's cycling initiatives are part of a larger strategy to improve climate-friendly mobility. Dietzenbach aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030, and encourages citizen involvement in this mission. The expansion of bike parking spaces is also part of the Local Mobility Concept and the Integrated Energy Quarter Concept.
Mayor Lang has expressed his enthusiasm for the numerous new parking options, stating that they confirm the good infrastructure that Dietzenbach offers to cyclists. The new bike racks, which can accommodate city bikes, e-bikes, and racing bikes, will be installed at 44 locations throughout the city, though the exact site selection has not been specified.
The bike racks are equipped with frame locking for better theft protection. This expansion is part of the city's cycling concept, which was developed in collaboration with the Working Group on Cycling & Local Mobility and the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC).
Citizens are invited to share their opinions on local cycling until the end of November. The city's cycling measures are currently being evaluated in the current ADFC Cycling Climate Test.
It's worth noting that the bike racks on Darmstädter Straße at the corner of Bahnhofstraße are being removed due to complaints about restricted parking during large-scale events. However, the city is installing new bike racks elsewhere in the city to compensate for this loss.
The city of Dietzenbach is committed to promoting cycling for short trips within the city, and encourages its residents to join in these efforts to create a more sustainable and mobile city.
