The Ara Güler Museum in Istanbul is hosting an exceptional exhibition, titled "Robert Capa - The Truth Is the Best Picture," showcasing the life and career of renowned photojournalist Robert Capa. This is the first time an entire show at the museum is dedicated to another photographer, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to view a comprehensive collection of Capa's work.

The exhibition, which will remain on view until March 22, 2026, is a collaborative effort between the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center and the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Istanbul. It presents a chronological journey through Capa's career, spanning from 1932 to 1954.

The exhibition features 37 photographs taken by Capa in Türkiye in 1946 during an assignment for Time magazine. Capa's lens captured scenes from Istanbul, Ankara, and Anatolian towns, including mosques, palaces, the Ankara Hippodrome, the Victory Monument, and rural life. Some of these images have become symbols of war itself, making Capa's work historically invaluable.

The exhibition director, Tuana Pulak, the Exhibition Management and Project Development Director at the Ara Güler Museum, noted that Capa's work is highly influential, shaping the profession of photojournalism. Pulak emphasized that the exhibition covers Capa's defining assignments, from the Spanish Civil War to World War II.

Capa's work not only shaped the profession of photojournalism but also provided lasting visual records of the 20th century's defining moments. Pulak stated, "Capa's work provides us with a unique insight into history, offering a raw and unfiltered perspective of the world during those tumultuous times."
