The traditional Lichternacht festival is set to return to Solingen on September 20th, promising a vibrant and atmospheric celebration under the motto "Light connects". This year's event will see the city center, Südpark, and various participating stores transformed into a dazzling display of lights and illuminations.

Luminous paths and action areas will guide visitors from the city center to the Südpark, creating an enchanting journey through the heart of Solingen. The festival will feature numerous actions and illuminations, including the participation of three churches - Clemenskirche, Stadtkirche, and Lutherkirche - which will be beautifully illuminated for the occasion.

In addition to the breathtaking light displays, music will play a significant role in this year's Lichternacht. The P.O.K.E. band, known for their unique interpretations of well-known songs, will provide live music at the event. The band, which plays guitar, bass, cajón, and vocals, promises an unforgettable musical experience.

Accompanying the P.O.K.E. band will be the Karlsruhe 70s garage rock band Tyles. Inspired by local cult bands like X and The Gun Club, Tyles play a style rooted in garage rock. The evening will also feature the Parisian post-punk band Frustration, whose music combines late 70s British post-punk and punk attitude with dark synthesizers and driving basslines.

Visitors are invited to embark on a special discovery tour, exploring the various stores that will extend their shopping hours for the event. The Gläserne Werkstatt at Hauptstraße 61-63 will be open from 9:00 PM for visitors to explore.

Associations and institutions have designed their own program points for the Lichternacht event, promising a diverse and engaging experience for all. Light figures on stilts will be present, moving among the visitors, adding an element of whimsy to the festivities.

The Lichternacht event aims to connect culture, community, and light in a special way, making it a must-see event for residents and visitors alike. So, mark your calendars for September 20th and join Solingen in celebrating the return of this beautiful and enchanting festival.
