European Union's Commission introduces a fresh program boosting summer activities for individuals with disabilities.

In the heart of Germany, the city of Dreieich is making significant strides in promoting inclusion for people with disabilities. The Special Needs Support Dreieich (BHD) is leading the charge, organising summer holidays that have become a highlight in the city's club scene.

This year, the BHD expanded its inclusive offer to include the Little Rascals, the youngest club, in programs at the youth centre (Juz) and holiday games. This is a significant step towards inclusion, according to the Special Needs Support Dreieich.

The holidays aim to continue the successful concept of inclusion for people with disabilities. In 2022, the organisation supporting the holiday trips of the BHD clubs was the Unterstützungsvereinigung, which enabled the clubs to stay an additional two days during their trips.

The holidays provide opportunities for people with disabilities to be part of the community and gain new experiences. They are planned in close consultation with the participants and their caregivers, ensuring a personalised and enjoyable experience for all.

In 2022, the Swallows and the Night Owls Club went on an eight-day trip to Büchenbeuren in the Hunsrück, the Friday Club went to Altoetting in Bavaria, and the Teen Club spent their holiday in Fürth.

Looking ahead to 2025, the holidays organised by Special Needs Support Dreieich are highly anticipated. The holidays in 2025 will be designed with further inclusive activities, continuing to be a significant inclusion measure for people with disabilities in Dreieich.

Inclusion is a central goal of the Special Needs Support Dreieich, consistently pursued in cooperation with the city. The organisation works tirelessly to expand inclusion measures for people with disabilities, and the summer holidays are just one example of their commitment to this cause.

Fundraising efforts by the association ensure that the clubs can stay an extra day on their trips, making these holidays even more enjoyable and memorable for the participants. The holidays offer participants the opportunity to travel to various holiday regions in Germany with caregivers, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of community.

The holidays serve as an important inclusion measure for people with disabilities in Dreieich, and the city's children and youth support are cooperating with the BHD in these efforts. The holidays are organised by five BHD clubs, which are supported by the Dreieich Special Needs Support Association.

The summer holidays of BHD have been a highlight in the city's club scene for years, and with the continued expansion of inclusive activities, they are set to remain so for many years to come.
