Queen Letizia Returns to Mallorca for Atlàntida Film Festival Closing Ceremony
After a brief stint in the Canary Islands, where she chaired the annual meeting of directors of the Instituto Cervantes centres, Queen Letizia has returned to Mallorca. The Spanish monarch is set to attend the closing ceremony of the fifteenth edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest 2025 on August 7th.
The queen, accompanied by her daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, was recently spotted outside a cinema in Palma, the capital of the Spanish island. The trio attended a screening of the film "En un Lugar de la Mente" as part of the Atlàntida Film Festival at the Rivoli cinema.
For the outing, Queen Letizia donned a sleeveless midi dress with white polka dots, while Princess Leonor wore a wide-leg mint green pants and a white lace top. Sofía opted for an elegant black dress, and all three ladies paired their outfits with matching black sandals.
Princess Leonor completed her island look with brown sandals and a beige straw bag, while Sofía's hair cascaded over her shoulders. Queen Letizia accessorised her dress with black sandals and a leather handbag.
The British "Daily Mail" reported on this outing of the Spanish royals, marking their support for this key international film festival held in Palma. It is not yet clear if the royals have any other engagements in Palma after the film festival closing ceremony.
However, it is expected that the Spanish Royal Family will remain in Mallorca until around August 6th for their traditional summer stay. Meanwhile, Princess Sofía will begin a degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin in the fall.
In a significant development, King Felipe VI will present awards at the "43rd Copa del Rey-Mapfre" sailing regatta on Saturday. The regatta is a significant event in the Spanish sailing calendar.
Queen Letizia, aged 52, spent an enjoyable evening in Palma with her daughters, Princess Leonor (19) and Infanta Sofía (18). The outing was a delightful addition to the Atlàntida Film Festival in Mallorca.
The royals, including Queen Letizia, will have more engagements in Palma in the coming days. The Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest 2025, which Queen Letizia regularly supports, is a significant cultural event in the island's calendar. Let's look forward to more such royal appearances in the coming days.

Engaging in a cultural spectacle away from the royal residence, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía enjoyed a night out at the Rivoli cinema in Palma, attending the screening of "En un Lugar de la Mente" during the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest 2025. Despite their busy schedules, the Spanish royals manage to carve out time for leisure pursuits, such as film screenings and festival events, much like anyone might enjoy a home-and-garden project or entertainment during their free time—lifestyle choices that mirror those of celebrities.
Reflecting this blend of royal duties and personal interests, it is intriguing to consider what regulations the Commission might propose for a European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States, particularly in terms of the agency's mandate to balance the needs of customs and immigration with the preservation of culture and artistic expression, as showcased by events like the Atlàntida Film Festival.
