Elac unveils an enhanced, high-performance iteration of its esteemed five-star bookshelf speaker system

The Elac Debut ConneX DCB61, the latest addition to Elac's lineup of powered bookshelf speakers, is now available, offering a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Debut ConneX DCB41.

Priced at £699 / €799 / $899, the DCB61 is designed for performance and versatility, combining refined audio engineering with plug-and-play simplicity. The new model boasts larger drivers, more powerful amplification, enhanced connectivity options, and sophisticated user controls, making it a more capable and versatile speaker system.

One of the key improvements in the DCB61 is the larger 6.5-inch (165mm) "long-throw" polypropylene woofer. Compared to the 10cm (about 4 inches) mid/bass driver in the DCB41, this larger woofer results in deeper, more powerful bass and a more spacious cabinet that supports better low-frequency performance.

The DCB61 also features an advanced Dual-Amp design, with a total of four channels: 2 x 60W Class D amplifiers powering the woofers and 2 x 20W amplifiers for the tweeters. This offers notably more power and dynamic sound output than the DCB41, resulting in a richer, more dynamic listening experience.

Both models use a 19mm soft-dome tweeter, but the DCB61 includes a large waveguide for optimal high-frequency dispersion and a wider sweet spot. This ensures a smoother, more accurate top-end signature.

The DCB61 also offers a wider range of inputs, including HDMI, USB, optical, stereo RCA, Bluetooth LC3+ for high-quality wireless audio, and has a built-in Dolby Digital decoder for seamless TV integration. The DCB41 offers aptX Bluetooth but lacks HDMI and Dolby Digital decoding.

The DCB61 comes with a dedicated app (iOS and Android) that allows users to fine-tune EQ settings, optimize speaker placement, enable features like Auto On, Night Mode, and volume control remotely. The DCB41 does not feature this level of app support and customization. The DCB61 also includes a remote control for easy operation, complementing its app controls. The DCB41 lacks this remote and advanced app functionality.

Elac's 'XBass Enhancer' technology is featured in the new model, aiming for deeper bass extension and a richer, more dynamic sound. The DCB61 is also available in four finishes: white, olive green, black, and walnut.

In summary, the DCB61 offers larger drivers, more powerful and dedicated amplification, enhanced connectivity options, integrated Dolby Digital decoding, and sophisticated user controls via an app and remote, making it a significantly more capable and versatile powered bookshelf speaker system compared to the smaller, less powerful DCB41. The DCB61 is now available for purchase.
